THE MIDHURST MAY CARNIVAL 2005Monday May 2ndAfter last year's rainy day it was back to the usual hot, sunny weather this year that we have come to expect for the Midhurst Carnival. Below are some photographs of the parade, which are available this year in much larger sizes, so you can download them as desktop wallpaper. The procession this year started at 2.00pm from the Grange Centre, and travelled via Bepton Road, Rumbolds Hill, North Street and Lamberts Lane. Later in the afternoon, there was a parade of entrants at the River Site, Midhurst Grammar School, followed by the crowning of the Carnival King and Queen. Throughout the afternoon there were many events and stalls, including a samba band, a wife carrying competition, tug-o'-war, children's rides, sumo wrestling, gladiator jousting and tombolas. The event was organised by the Lions Club of Midhurst. Carnival float entries this year included Rother House, Midhurst Primary School, First Friends of Midhurst Primary, BUPA Pendean House, Proclean, Midhurst Engineering, Midhurst Country Music and Southdown Vintage Tractor Club.
